The kitchen corner activities are a major part of Exercises for Practical Life in the AIS Montessori program. On 5th March 2015, students of Senior Montessori got first-hand experience of working in the kitchen with child sized furniture and equipment. The aim of the grater activity was to enable students to learn to use the graters independently. The teachers first gave a demo and then let the students carry out the activity in their supervision. Children bubbling with excitement were clad with aprons and kitchen caps, as they tried out different graters.
The safety of the students was the primary concern during this activity. Later, the students ate freshly grated carrots, cucumbers and boiled potatoes with sprinkled salt & pepper.
